Kusile

Kusile carries a powerful legacy as the son of Mbilu and grandson of the famous one-eyed female, Kulua. Born in Raptors View Wildlife Estate, his journey to adulthood depended on successfully dispersing into the Blue Canyon Conservancy—a dangerous move that brought him face-to-face with the area's resident male, Mulhuri.
Their rivalry was fierce, leaving Kusile with a distinctive scar on his upper lip. After Mulhuri was tragically killed by a train shortly after their confrontation, Kusile claimed the territory. Exceptionally large for his age, he has since established himself as the dominant male in the area, filling the void left in the landscape.
This photograph captures Kusile in his prime. With 69 recorded encounters by Ingwe's citizen scientists, he is a true success story, having already sired cubs with the Kwetsi female.
